Library service began in Chippawa in 1921 when the Chippawa I.O.D.E. organized a subscription library for village residents. In 1967, the first free public library opened at this location, which later became a branch of the Niagara Falls Public Library system following amalgamation in 1970.

Chippawa Library saw a major renovation and enlargement project in 1984 resulting in the building as we know it today. The library is located on Main Street, and is the only library in the Village.
