About Mahtay

Located in the heart of downtown St Catharines, right around the corner from the Transit Terminal, Mahtay cafe is well-known amongst students, local musicians and artists.

General Information

Mahtay offers over 8 diverse breakfast items every day, that change depending on what is in season. One of the main draws is their vegan options, as they offer at least 4 of the 8 options as vegan options. Some of their breakfast options include: traditional breakfast sandwich with eggs and black forest ham; Vegan breakfast sandwich; Umpqua oatmeal; breakfast pizza made with egg, ham, peppers, cheese, and onions made on a flat bread; yogurt and granola; and their "Larry David", made with smoked salmon and lemon dill cream cheese served on a bagel. They also offer vegan alternatives to lattes, milkshakes, and provide almond or soy milk for coffee's and teas.

Mahtay is not just a breakfast place, and it also serves a variety of baked goods (vegan options included), and also offers lunch, dinner and is a licensed bar that serves local beer and wine.

This cafe is also a great spot to enjoy or partake in one of their monthly open mic nights for music and poetry, to grab a board game or book, or just to sit and listen to a local band play a show in their "community room". (Mahtay, 2015.)
