Winner of the Tripadvisor Award of Excellence, The Pie Plate Bakery is a "well-known" amongst the locals. Using only in- season fruits, these made from scratch pies and baked goods are always a fresh treat for a newcomer stopping by. Operating for over 12 years, Ruth Ann Schriefer, owner and founder, has been dedicated to using local growers and baking all her treats with traditional mennonite-style baking.

This renovated house has been redesigned as a homey, bohemian style cafe. The wrap around porch that hugs the outer parameters of the shop comfortably seats 16, and is festively decorated with white lights and homemade decorations. The inside, that easily seats 30, is a cozy eating area for those grabbing a pastry or one of the lunch options they also offer.

Different pies are available in accordance to the season of harvest. For example, peach, elderberry, strawberry, and cherry are all July options (although cherry is available all the time, it is in harvest during this month); blueberry is available June through September; Rhubarb is available May, June, September and October; grape is available September to October; pumpkin is available September to December; and apple is available September through May.
