The pharmacy building was purchased by William Macartney in 1872 where he sold drugs, toys, and knickknacks. It has been in business for almost 150 years. It was owned by the Macartney family until 1939, when it was bought by Edward Henderson. It is now run by John Henderson (Edward's son) as part of the Pharmasave franchise. The design of the building has hardly changed over the years, so it is easily recognizable as one of Thorold's heritage sites.
