JH x44 43 Upper Berkeley Street W1H 5QL

In a street of impressive but somewhat rundown residences it is a huge disappointment to find that the home that Jimi shared with Kathy Etchingham and Chas and Lotta Chandler from 21 March 1967 to 2 January 1969 is part of the only block to have been demolished. Number 43 would have stood at the left-hand comer of the tall white building and the couple lived in Flat 9. More gratifying to note is that the mundane telephone junction box by which Jimi posed for the picture on the cover of /impress 50 and as described on page 11 of /impress 74 is still there, 25 metres from where he lived, on the comer of Edgware Road. If you get your angles right you could recreate the scene half a century later.
