General Description

EB Games is one of the most popular electronic gaming stores widely accessible across both Canada and the world, with vast selections on new and old titles for each console currently on its shelves. EB Games is the go-to shop for any new releases on games, consoles, or accessories, as well as dealing in pre-orders and merchandise that target a larger mainstream market not solely centered around just games. For the avid window shopper or the game enthusiast, EB Games stands as the benchmark must stop shop for all things videogame related, with official merchandise and accessories for sale on every platform.

Recreational Features

EB Games sells much more than purely video game merchandise and games, as their market and variety have expanded exponentially. On tops of video games, the store also sells and offers:

  • Collectibles such as Pops, toys, apparel, figurines, plushies, and other miscellaneous items
  • Trading cards like Pokemon, Yu-gi-oh and Magic The Gathering
  • Consoles, accessories, video games, pre-orders, and equipment
  • A large selection of clothes, hats, mugs, back packs, ear muffs, etc.

In terms of services, the store is also working on allowing customers to demo different games in-store before purchasing in order to see if they really like them or not, and are also trying to create a more interactive environment between the store and their customers. By providing guests with the opportunity to try some of the collectible equipment like weapon replicas, masks and armour, they hope to create a more welcoming and enjoyable atmosphere for their customers, as well as now running Pokemon trading for their younger and older guests.

Historical Attributes

EB Games was founded in 1977 as a computer and video games retailer, and in 2005 it was bought by GameStop, another video game and electronic retailer store. It now sits as the worlds largest video game retailer, with locations found all over the globe.

Accessiblilty

The store has no automatic doors but does have a ramp outside leading onto its walkway. Inside the store there is nothing overly sensory for those with a sensitivity to such things, and the staff actively caters to fix any issues they find to better help support the community. It is also a fairly large store in comparison to other EB Games in the area, making it much more easily navigable for those requiring space.
