Ballett's Ladies' Wear, "with a tradition of better value" opened on Queen Street in 1967. It was so successful that a second store opened in the brand-new Niagara Square, and by 1980, the chain had expanded as are west as Alberta. The owner, Bruce Ballett, also operated a hand-crafted furniture business from the back door of the Queen Street location.

Business took a swift downturn, and in 1982, a bailiff licensed by the Ministry of Consumer and Commercial Relations ordered the stores closed. Anxious brides bombarded the baliff's office with telephone calls, and arrangements were made for them to be able to pick up their wedding gowns.

Now: Queen Street Pharmacy

The Queen Street Medical Building operates today in the former Ballett store.
